Scramoose! the Scrambler

I bought a 1968 Ducati Scrambler on July 29, 2002. His name is Scramoose!, henceforth referred to
as 'Moose'. If you don't like the name, you can send me email at feedback@getyerowndamnbike.net

These pages follow my progress, education and pestering of the knowledgable crew on the Bevelhead list.

UPDATE: the current hot debate is WHAT EXACTLY DO I HAVE HERE? I bought a partially disassembled 68 Scrambler, with a 250cc engine that had been bored out to 350cc. When I posted the engine model/number and photos up to the Bevelhead list, I found out the following stuff (keep in mind that I know nada about vintage Ducs at the moment...I got the Scrambler so I could learn as much as possible - turning out to be the case)...

* the engine numbers/model DM250M1/00679 indicates a MACH 1 engine
* I have a Widecase NOT a Narrowcase
* it's not possible to have the DM250M1 (Mach 1) designation on a Widecase
* it's not possible to have the low number of 00679 on a Widecase either
* DM250M1 00679 belongs on a much earlier NarrowCase Mach 1 engine, not what I have
* my engine was re-stamped long ago, probably to match a clear title somewhere along the line
* my engine number matches the title, so god only knows how far back the number change occured

So what is this little engine? How did it get this way? Someday I hope to figure it all out ... but for now I want to get it running! So feel free to share your expertise about it's authenticity, what doesn't add up & help me pin a pedigree on this puppy... No matter what it turns out to be, it's a Ducati Single of my very own so I'm happy as pie :)
